INDUSTRY 4.0 AND BUSINESS DIGITALIZATION

Industry 4.0 is a strategic way to connect systems based on internet technology with the goal of establishing communication between machines, people, products and business systems. The term “Industry 4.0” was first presented in 2011 at the world exhibition of industrial technology “Hanover Messe”, as part of the German industrial strategy for the period until 2020.

The main goals are to create smart factories and digitalize business and production processes in order to increase overall quality, reduce production and business costs, and increase production flexibility and efficiency. Because of its universal principles, Industry 4.0 can also be successfully applied outside production – in the health, administration and education system. This would reduce the cost of providing services, shorten the service life cycle, and increase the efficiency of the energy systems.
