Industry 4.0 is a strategic approach of integrating Internet-based systems, with the goal of establishing communication between machines, people, products and business systems. The term Industry 4.0 was first introduced in 2011 at the „Hanover Messe“ industrial technology exhibition, as part of the German industrial strategy for the period up to 2020.
Over the next five years, Europe plans to invest more than € 500 million in the development of Industry 4.0 and the digitalization of business.
Industry 4.0 and digitalization of business are a great opportunity for Croatian industry and society as a whole to quickly begin replacing the existing Industry 2.0 and 3.0 systems with cyber-mechanical systems of Industry 4.0. Businesses in Croatia need to incorporate this transition in their strategies, and position themselves in the EU and world markets by 2025.
These changes are an opportunity for Croatian industry, economy and society as a whole, which should certainly be taken advantage of, as the consequences could otherwise be the collapse of companies, industries and isolation.
